Lisa Rickers

Lisa is a nurse, specialising in the field of bariatric and metabolic surgery.

Her role enable her to support people who are struggling with obesity and other obesity related health conditions. Lisa believes in the approach of health at every size (HAES) and is passionate to see change in weight bias and stigma, both within health services, the media and society. Research indicates that women are more likely to be negatively impacted from weight bias and stigma and there is a need for better understanding on this condition.

Taking part in her first hackathon in the USA during the first lockdown inspired Lisa to create The iCrowd, a community of Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals to create a collaborative space to co-create. At present healthcare innovation is akin to an elite sport and, yes - you have guessed it, women are poorly represented despite 80% of the workforce being female. The iCrowd want to see this change and we are working towards our goal to inspire, create and grow our community.
